About Michael Capponi

Throughout the last two decades, the name Michael Capponi has become synonymous with luxury construction and design, quality entertainment and a passion towards humanitarian causes.   His internationally acclaimed ventures and his development projects, have earned him the reputation as one of Miami's most respected and well-known entrepreneurs.  Thanks to those many successes, he has also developed a well-deserved reputation for his philanthropic activities.

Born in Belgium with a Florentine heritage, Michael was raised in Miami where his family owned several boutiques. As his mother was an interior designer and his father a restaurateur and nightclub operator, Michael grew up learning as much as he could about both industries. Michael became part of the community of models, photographers, fashion designers and pioneers, who were all revitalizing the Beach. Michael's extraordinary ability for garnering relationships gave way to promoting and quickly Michael Capponi Events became a sought-after entity. He appeared in magazines from New York to Europe as one of the most creative and eclectic forces in South Beach.

Michael's skill and penchant for presenting great events soon attracted a long line of clients seeking help to rejuvenate their businesses. In the early 1990's, he began working with major nightclubs, restaurants and hotels on South Beach, developing opening-night parties and hosting weekly soirees at venues including but not limited to: Warsaw, Amenesia and Bar Room. With his exclusive sought-after events, Michael was a critical component in the rejuvenation of South Beach and helped put it on the map as tourism hot spot. In 2001, he began promoting a Wednesday night gathering at B.E.D, which quickly became South Beach's hottest event. In 2002, he launched Prive, an exclusive lounge within the Opium Garden complex, followed by Mansion in early 2004. The Hotel Victor and The Forge/Glass shortly followed and now SET, Plunge, LIV, and Mondrian  are on the list of high-end, exclusive venues with which Capponi Events is partnered.

Over the years, the Capponi brand has continued to evolve.  While most know of his entertainment ventures, it is his latest projects that are putting Michael on the radar as a bonafide area developer, with a strong commitment to the city of Miami, as well as its non-profit community.

His businesses are now part of The Capponi Group, a portfolio of companies that include:
*    Capponi Events, developing and promoting entertainment and nightlife
*    Capponi Construction Group, a full service construction and design management company focusing on commercial and luxury residential construction
*    Capponi Properties, the property development component, which seeks high end commercial projects
*    Capponi Interiors, a full service interior decorating firm.

When Michael opened the doors to Capponi Construction Group, it became an instant success, landing him large projects such as director Michael Bay's home and Loren Ridinger's Casa Sueños property.  In 2007, Michael received the "Leader of The Year" award from the Developers and Builders alliance.  When he received the award, the DBA stated "Although Capponi is a newcomer to the South Florida market, his creativity, perseverance, and ability to deliver finished products in record time have catapulted Michael Capponi to the top of the industry."

In 2008, Michael Capponi was awarded "Builder Renovation Firm of the Year" at the Developers and Builders Alliance.  No other young company has ever received this award in such a short amount of time.

His impressive business accomplishments have now laid the foundation for a rigorous and passionate commitment to many charitable causes.  He is determined to give back to the community responsible for his success in a meaningful way; consequently fundraising has become a significant focus of the Capponi Group.

Michael is on the committee for a number of charitable events, including Vice Chair of Make A Wish nightclub for the InterContinental Make-a-Wish Ball; Honorary Chair of the Wellness Community Heart & Star Gala; Chair of Toast to United Way; Miami's Starlight Gala (benefiting Bay Point schools); the inaugural Red Cross Dance Ball (at which he was the recipient of the "Trailblazer Award" and given the key to the city by then-mayor Niesen Kasdin for his efforts after the September 11 tragedy); The Fashion Art Ball (benefiting The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation); the Bvlgari Ball (benefiting the Jackson Memorial Foundation);  Vice Chair for the New Yorkers for Children Gala;  and Co-chairs the Best Buddies Jobs Gala with Anthony Kennedy Shriver. He is also on the committee for the Bare Foot on the Beach Gala supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach and Vice Chair of Wellness Community.

Michael works with a number of established organizations, but it is his work with grass roots projects that makes him unique. Michael currently works with various drug rehabilitation facilities to aid young people suffering from the ravages of addiction. In 1999 he launched a city-wide food drive for victims of the war in Kosovo, raising over $500,000 and 15,000 pounds of donated food and clothing, which was distributed throughout the region. Most recently Michael and the Red Cross of Miami have worked on fund raisers for every major hurricane that has recently struck our nation. Along with Miami Rescue Mission, he annually facilitates the feeding of over 2,500 homeless people in the Miami area. He sponsors a car, the Hope Mobile, that assists in helping feed the homeless.

There is more good work to come.  With the future success of the Capponi Group, Michael hopes to continue to contribute to the community that has done so much for him.
